Dare To Be King :: David Miller

"Dare To Be King: What If the Prince Lives… grew out of my own experience as an African American male living in an American inner city. On August 11, 1989, I watched as my friend, Donald Vincent Bentley, was gunned down on the streets of Baltimore during his summer vacation from Morehouse University. During the past 10 plus years, numerous youth whom I have worked with have been killed as a result of community violence.

In urban centers today, young people view violence as a natural and viable means of solving problems. For them, physical aggression toward others is the norm. As communities become overwhelmed by senseless acts of violence committed by some of their youngest members, it becomes more difficult to address these problems. The Dare To Be King Model is just one of the solutions that are available to community groups, schools and other organizations that are serious about improving the quality of life for African American males!"
