DARE TO BE KING RITES OF PASSAGE WEEKEND RETREAT
The Dare to Be King three-day Weekend Retreat helps young males ages 9-17 navigate the journey from childhood to adulthood in a supported, mentored way. Led by a team of experienced instructors and mentors, participants will safely experience the physical and mental challenges, as well as the interpersonal themes of self reliance, responsibility to self and others, group dynamics and conflict resolution. Much of the Dare to Be King curriculum will be used as a basis for the entire Rites of Passage program including, the retreat. Workshops and outdoor challenges will focus on helping the participants identify their leadership qualities and to recognize the importance of personal responsibility and accountability within the African American and wider communities. The candidates will have an opportunity to increase introspection, team building, physical endurance, and self- discipline.
The cost for the retreat is $150 for the entire weekend.
This includes lodging, transportation, three meals a day, DTBK certificate, copies of 101 Things Every Boy/Young Man of Color Should Know (for participants) and Raising Him Alone (for parents).
